e-Monitoring Networks Announces New Fuel Truck Monitoring and Tracking Service

San Diego, CA (May 10, 2002)

e-Monitoring Networks, Inc. ("e-Monitoring") announced today that it was launching a new vehicle monitoring and tracking service for its customers in the petroleum distribution industry. Truck and vehicle tracking has been available in various forms for some time, however in these days of Homeland Security concerns, real-time tracking of dangerous loads such as motor fuels and other petroleum products has gained a new urgency.

Recognizing these issues for its fuel distribution customers, e-Monitoring has now added a tracking and emergency notification service to its suite of web-based wireless monitoring solutions.

This new service using satellite based position location and terrestrial wireless communication links is now being utilized for a fleet of fuel trucks in the Southern California area. "With this system, our customer is able to track the location and load status of all on-the-road vehicles no matter where they are located", said Ed Schmidt, President of e-Monitoring. "In addition and addressing the very serious issue of vehicle security, drivers now have the ability to alert dispatchers to an emergency situation by activating a hidden "panic" button in the vehicle."

The panic button can be used by the driver to alert dispatch and a 24/7 emergency monitoring center that an emergency situation exists. Based on pre-established procedures, the incoming alert message triggers certain actions including coordination with the appropriate authorities.
